Mini Movie Review

Hunter Killer - a sub movie! Woot! Hubby has been chomping at the bit to see this one. :) The film has all the submarine movie tropes and then some. Some of the big pieces on the plot don't quite fit or point you in directions never followed up on, but ignoring those, you're in for a fun ride. Multiple groups are involved in the mission, so you get action from several directions and by various groups. Rating: 3.25 out of 5 (Hubby's Rating: Worth Full Price to See Again!)

Mini Movie Reviews

Alpha - There is a lot of gorgeous cinematography in this film. They start out us out with the crisis point then go back a week earlier. It's a gimmick they could have left out and made a better film due to it. It was nice to see some of the culture of the tribe, though the whole beating of the kids was not explained and didn't make much sense, especially the night before a long excursion. Several instances of anachronism, which were odd. Several cases where the boy had a chance to make things better for himself and didn't. (Hunter tent, sabertooth tiger pelt.) Rating: 3.5 out of 5 (Hubby's Rating: Worth Full Price of Admission)

Continuing the dog theme...



A-X-L - Adorable premise, blossoming AI escapes and gets adopted by a boy after getting bested by him. (Alpha dominance also showed in Alpha.) But a lot of problems with doing things for convenience and plot manipulation. Example: We see AXL use intelligence in evading pursuers and not being found, yet later he doesn't move back even though we see in his sensors he is aware of the weapon the person is pointing and the pool for gasoline at his feet. He claws things, but we never see the claws. Lots of little things that added up to take away from the film. Rating: 3 out of 5 Hubby's Rating: Worth Full Price of Admission.

One funny thing was that in A-X-L they show pics of man and dog over the years and of course had one for ancient man and dog. Tying it back to Alpha. Heh heh. Oh, and today is National Dog Day! So you have doggie movies you can see to celebrate. :)

 On the book trailer news - I've picked three possibles for the music for the trailer. As I've done in the past, I look to Kevin MacLeod for excellent royalty free tracks. Will I use Black Vortex, Phantom from Space, or Voltaic? Too soon to tell. :P

Greetings and Happy Mother's Day!

No movies this week as there's been nothing out hubby and I have wanted to see. A very off situation, but it happens occasionally. However, the next two weeks we KNOW what we want to see - Deadpool 2 and Solo! :)

Deus Ex Mankind Divided

Yep - haven't done this one in a while. I keep thinking I will skip pics then I see why I took it in the first place and they are hard to pass on. Decisions, decisions. :)

I tried to fix the contrast and you really need to see the bigger pic versions to see it. This is a tower of computers and power supplies. The thing is super rigged and has a ton of wires! This is the inside courtyard of a religious compound for a new offshoot I'm investigating.

The back of her head is like super disturbing. She's added computer jacks in multiple places on her head. Eek! The better to prepare to upload to the ALL.

This is her from the front. She's the cult leader. Unfortunately, she's also been duped into this.

The goal of the cult is to go beyond the already augmented human form to a purely computer one. All these people are plugged into the mainframe waiting to ascend.

Kids, women, men, all plugged together into a network about to leave their bodies behind and ascend. All that awaits them is death unless this is stopped.

Well, things did not go as planned and I got caught. I've been dumped here to die. Must find a way out!

Greetings!

I kind of fell off the face of the Earth for a while. Year End Close at work was rather brutal, and in the middle of it, hubby and I caught the Flu. My daughter and son-in-law didn't catch it, but they got sinus infections instead. Now Jan close is here and the auditors for YE will show any day now. Wheeeeee!



Mini Movie Review - Maze Runner: Death Cure - It was loads better than the second film. A quick recap would have done a lot for it. The continual assumption by Hollywood that people will have gone back and rewatched the previous movies before seeing the new one will keep audiences from enjoying them as much. Lots of action and craziness. Do not look at stuff closely or it falls apart. Things set up in film 2 are not followed up on, things that should have been obvious from stuff that happened in film 2 also were ignored. lol.

Jensen goes into an antiques store and someone had a lot of fun with it. Found a copy of "Hitman" in a corner.

Then I found a copy of Deus Ex in a box! lol.

A part of the map finally opened up in Prague. This is the red light district. Love the girl silhouette projected on the building. 

Such a funky setup.

An unexpected surprise! The original version of the AI program still exists! But this side story you have to stumble across. Hubby never knew of it. I only found it because I noticed one of the street electrical posters was malfunctioning and went to check it out. So glad she escaped!

Looking for someone to get intel from here. It's funny how upstairs it says "live show" yet they use mannequins. (And yes, to the right, that is what it looks like - a tentacle!)

Inside The Irish Stool - has a nice feel to it. :)

The "Temptacle" Club - the reason for the tentacles on buildings. lol. 

This is the Church of the Machine God. The followers believe God is in the technology. They have a plan to elevate themselves to the next form of existence. Eek!

Darkest Hour - 4 out of 5 (Hubby's Rating: Worth Full Price to See Again) - great performances, cool cinematography. See the England side of what was going on while soldiers were getting stranded at Dunkirk and the horrid pressure on Churchill. A fascinating slice of history.
